PACS President, Dr. Rommel C. Banlaoi, has been elected to the Management Board of the World Association for Chinese Studies (WACS).

The election took place at the 3rd World Conference on Chinese Studies held at Witten University located in North-Rhine Westphalia, Germany on August 24-25, 2019. During the conference, Dr. Banlaoi also served as the keynote speaker where he discussed the South China Sea dispute as an important research area of Chinese Studies in the Philippines.

Chinese Studies scholars worldwide, particularly from Europe, Asia, and North America, established WACS in October 2016. Its current President is Dr. Martin Moesler from Germany. Aside from Dr. Moesler and Dr. Banlaoi, current members of the WACS Management Board are Dr. Alena Pavlova from Russia, Yevhenii Hobova from Ukraine, and Dr. Yu Hong from China.
