Jely A. Galang, Ph.D., assistant professor in the Department of History of the University of the Philippines-Diliman, is the first recipient of the Senior Research Fellowship Grant awarded by the Philippine Association for Chinese Studies for his project titled "Labor, Ethnicity and State Control: Chinese Polistas in the Philippines, 1867-1898".
